Fire at Allied Colliods,
Bradford
A number of AZDN powder kegs ruptured and came into contact with
SPS in the raw materials warehouse. Contact with an ignition source
resulted in a fire which spread throughout
the warehouse. The fire was contained but considerable damage
was done to the Aire and Calder rivers as a result of around 20
million litres of fire-water run-off.

Fire at Texaco Refinery, Milford Haven
This
fire started on 24th July 1994 and took 3 days to extinguish.
20 tonnes of flammable hydrocarbons were released from an outlet
pipe. The hydrocarbon liquid and vapour found an ignition source
and exploded causing a major hydrocarbon fire.
Mud flats in the surrounding area of coastline were contaminated.
The contaminant was found to be oil, thought to have come from
the fire-water run-off.
